The Milne Veggie Patch |
So I decided that I ought to record our veggie growing in Encinitas, as we are growing lots of lovely veggies, herbs and salad. This should be fun. I started doing this in a notebook earlier today and realised that I could record a lot more if I did a blog - so here goes...
What a good idea. The non-blogger Anna and I are most impressed with your veg patch pictures. Every thing is so much further advanced than on this side of the Big Pond. Here at BH my broad beans struggle slowly towards the light, the hail-damaged runner beans have yet to show they mean to stay and the peas are pathetic. Worse still rosemary is dead. Incessant rain today keeps the sisters indoors though there has been much weeding and garden beautifying going on generally. I think a softer cotton tape would protect your tomato stems though the best you can do for the already damaged ones is a bit of gentle bandaging. We look forward both tot seeing you soon and comparing horticultural practices and hearing the results of your pesticide trials.
ReplyDeleteThings are racing on now - it is a jungle up there. The artichokes are 2-3 feet high and at least 3 feet wide! The Tomatoes are producing lots of fruit and some are starting to turn. There are about 5-6 courgettes - I think they might need harvesting soon. The coriander and the arugula are amazing, we keep eating them yet there always seems to be more.
